Breckenridge 68

Topeak Ergon racer Jeff Kerkove takes 4th at this tough Colorado endurance event.

July 18, 2010

Breckenridge Colorado, USA

Over 200 racers descended on Breckenridge, CO for the one of the hardest 68 mile (part of the Breckenridge 100) race in the western USA, the Breckenridge 68.  Consisting of two 32 mile laps, the course would send racers over 11,000 ft twice and leave the riders with over 9,000 ft of climbing in their legs for the day.  With the laps being 90% technical singletrack, the course would be a true test of mind, body, and sponsor equipment.

Jeff Kerkove would use the 68 mile race as a tune up for the Colorado Trail Race which begins on August 2nd.  “I won here 2 years ago, so I know what I needed for a perfectly executed race.  My race went very well, except for a small time when my legs where sluggish.  Overall, I feel my effort and prep was spot-on, and it adds even more confidence for the coming 480 mile race from Denver to Durango in 2 weeks.”

Jeff would go on to finish 4th overall and 3rd in his 30-39 Age Group with a time of 6 hours and 18 minutes.
