Lumberjack 100
The O'Dea Duo take on this upper midwest 100 mile Endurance event.
Manistee, Michigan USA
Eddie and Namrita O'Dea of the Topeak-Ergon US team headed several hundred miles north for their last race. The Lumberjack 100, race #3 of the National Ultra Endurance Series, took place in Manistee, Michigan along the northwest coast of the state.
Both the racers got a good start for the day. The course was three 33 mile laps with mostly singletrack trails. The bulk of the course was flat but when the climbs came, they were steep. Eddie broke a chain on one of the abrupt steep hills towards the end of his first lap but was able to fix it quickly since he was prepared with all his Topeak gear. He fell to 21st place but was then able to chase back up to finally place 12th overall out of over 200 racers in the Open Men category. Namrita was also having a good first lap until a bad crash took her off her bike 30 miles into the race. She experienced minor injuries but was able to maintain a pace good enough for 5th overall in the Open Women's race.
The O'Deas also direct race #7 in the Ultra Endurance Series. The Topeak and Ergon-sponsored Fool's Gold 100 will take place on August 21 in Georgia.
Eddie and Namrita will tackle the Offroad Assault on Mount Mitchell in North Carolina as their next racing event.
