BURN 24 Hour Challenge
Topeak-Ergon solo racers Namrita and Eddie O' Dea trade turns on a 5 person team.
May 29-30, Wilkesboro, North Carolina, USA
This past weekend, Eddie and Namrita O'Dea raced on a 5-person team at the Topeak and Ergon-sponsored Burn 24 hour race in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. While both the O'Deas are normally 24 hour solo racers, the team format was all part of their overall goal to work on speed this season.
They took turns cranking out fast laps and in the end the team finished with 35 laps to win first place in their class and 7th place overall, out of close to 450 racers. In addition, Namrita won both the fastest women's day and night laps.
This was their first race on their new 2010 team bikes and both Eddie and Namrita had nothing but praises for the new team equipment. When asked which format they preferred, 24 hour solo or team, they said:
Namrita: "24 hour team was more fun at the time but I would pick solo. Racing a 24 hour solo is a unique, rewarding, and unforgettable experience."
Eddie: "Hmm..that's a tough one. I'd like to do more of both."
