Kurschat not to attend the World Championships
The German National XC Champion has decided against travelling to Australia for the World Championships.
Following a discussion involving the team management and Wolfram, it is clear that the World Cup Series is the focus for Kurschat this year. He is, after all, having his best season ever on the World Cup circuit following his two second place finishes at Offenburg and Houffalize.
Wolfram is currently fifth in the general classification, and plans to continue to make a strong impression for the remaining two races. The time required for the World Championships, when you have to adjust to the local time, the extremely long flight to Australia, and the stress of the event itself takes a lot out of the season. Undoubtedly this is detrimental to the chances of winning for the rest of the year, and the penultimate World Cup is just a week following Australia. When looked at from this perspective, it is a clear decision.
The team will not be without representation. is currently altitude training in preparation, looking to repeat her 2007 title.
Next year the calendar fits together a lot more smoothly. The World Champs is the last big race of the season, with the final World Cup a week prior to it, in New York State.
