Trans-Alp 2009 Stage 3: Mayrhofen to Brixen
Dave and Alban on the forward march and take a 8th place finish on the third stage
“That’s what we had in mind coming here”, Dave said, on arrival in Brixen, Italy. Compared to the yesterday, the performance was considerably better and both Dave and Alban were pleased with their 8th place finish. “I feel like a new man today” the 6x Leadville 100 winner said, “following the stage yesterday I slept well and was fresh today to start. It is more the type of performance that I expect of myself.” Wiens said.
The stage was untypical. A climb and then descent of 1600m. “Today there were also times that we had a one minute deficit on the leading group, however importantly it didn’t grow,” the Austrian Marathon Champion said. The total time for the stage was 3h27m02.2s.
Tomorrow there are 3665 meters of climbing, and 83.52km to ride to St.Christina.
