Climate Change

If the weather threatens... Muesingen will mean mud.

A different week, a different continent.  This week has seen the team travel from South Africa to Germany.  With the African dust a memory the 1st German Bundesliga race of the season in Muesingen takes place this Sunday, although weather conditions have been favourable this last week, rain storms, or if things are really bad, snow, threaten to dampen things now for the riders.  In Muesingen this will mean mud.

Irina Kalentieva and Wolfram Kurschat will feel at home though, competing against the World’s best, as many of the top international riders are also due to be amongst the 1000 entrants for the weekend.  Not all will be there, with the Sea Otter Classic taking place on the same weekend, where Team Topeak Ergon USA is currently competing with six riders.  Back in Europe, also flying the flag are Benjamin Brochhagen and Robert Mennen.

The outlook is positive, with a good performance last weekend from Kurschat and Kalentieva fresh in their legs, the Russian National Champion is hoping to repeat her podium place of last year.  Kurschat and Mennen meanwhile are hoping to carry their form through “I am excited.  A 38th place at a World Cup at my age is great, let’s see what happens in the Nationals.”

Topeak/Ergon USA at Sea Otter

Back in the US, the windy and sandy Sea Otter Laguna Seca venue is playing host to the traditional season starter stateside.  With Wiens, Kerkove, Looney, O’Dea, (Eddy and Namrita) and Saito being joined by R&D Director for Ergon, Kim Tofaute to race, the expectation, as well as the festival spirit, is strong.
